This week at the care village, our children and their older friends came together to begin preparing for our upcoming end of year celebration. It was a wonderful opportunity to be creative while celebrating what makes each of us unique.
Everyone was invited to draw their own interpretation of themselves, encouraging conversations about our individual characteristics, personalities and the things that make us special. The artwork beautifully reflected each person's creativity and imagination and we are excited to join all of the drawings together to create a colourful display that will be suspended from the ceiling during our celebration. It will be a lovely reminder that, although we are all different, we are connected as one community.
Alongside our creative activities, we enjoyed spending quality time together. There were plenty of meaningful conversations, shared laughter and quiet moments spent reading stories side by side. These simple experiences continue to strengthen the friendships between the children and their older friends, creating opportunities for learning, kindness and mutual respect.
As our time together this term begins to draw to a close, we are cherishing these special moments. The relationships that have grown through our intergenerational sessions are truly heartwarming and we look forward to celebrating everything we have shared together at our end of year celebration.
