Monday 5th October

This week, our children have continued to build wonderful connections and friendships with their older friends, sharing special moments filled with laughter, creativity and music.

One of the highlights was when one of the children brought in his very own harmonica, knowing that one of our older adults also plays this instrument. What a lovely way to bring people together! The two enjoyed playing their harmonicas alongside one another, creating a special musical moment that everyone could enjoy. While they played, the other children joined in by singing songs, filling the space with music, smiles and plenty of enthusiasm.

It was beautiful to see how a simple shared interest could bring different generations together. Music has such a wonderful way of connecting people, encouraging communication and creating a sense of belonging, regardless of age. The children's excitement and confidence shone through as they shared their voices and enjoyed making music with their older friends.

Alongside our musical adventures, we have continued to enjoy reading stories together and exploring our creative side. Sharing books gives everyone the opportunity to use their imaginations, talk about characters and stories, and enjoy quiet moments together. Our creative activities have also provided opportunities to exchange ideas, support one another and celebrate each other's creations.

These shared experiences are helping friendships to grow naturally. The children are becoming more comfortable spending time with their older friends, discovering common interests and learning from one another. At the same time, these moments offer opportunities to develop important social skills, such as listening, turn-taking, communication and empathy.

It is truly heartwarming to watch these relationships blossom. Whether they are playing music, singing favourite songs, sharing a story or creating something together, each experience helps to build meaningful connections and lasting memories.

We look forward to seeing what new interests, talents and friendships emerge as our intergenerational adventures continue!
