A Wonderful Day Outdoors 🌿🍎🕷️

The children had a wonderful time enjoying the outdoors today, making the most of the changing season and all the exciting opportunities our outdoor space has to offer.

We were very grateful to work alongside our wonderful volunteers, collecting hazel branches which we have been using to fill in the dead hedges around the boundary of our site. This is an important part of our preparations for winter, and the children really enjoyed getting involved and helping to care for our outdoor environment.

We also spent time collecting more crab apples, adding to our growing collection and continuing to explore what nature has to offer at this time of year.

There were plenty of tiny creatures to discover too! The children investigated spiders and were particularly fascinated by harvestman spiders, taking time to observe them closely and talk about what they noticed. It was lovely to see their curiosity and excitement as they explored the natural world around them.

Our mud kitchen was also a hive of activity. The children had great fun grating chalk and using their imaginations to pretend that the colourful chalk dust was a selection of spices. They mixed, stirred and created their own imaginative dishes, turning simple natural materials into ingredients for their wonderful pretend recipes.

It was a busy day filled with exploration, teamwork, creativity and lots of imagination. We love seeing the children learn through play and develop such a wonderful connection with the natural world around them. 🌱
