What a wonderful day we had at Forest School!
As we arrived at our site, we were so excited to discover that we had a huge delivery of bark from Gateshead Council. There was great excitement as we watched the tipper truck arrive and unload its enormous pile of bark. We love watching our Forest School environment grow and change, and we couldn't wait to get stuck in and explore our new delivery!
We were also delighted to welcome one of our very special friends back to Forest School. She has been a little poorly recently, so it was extra special to have her back with us on site. It was lovely to sit together, have a chat and enjoy spending time in each other's company. Sometimes, it is these simple moments of friendship and togetherness that make our Forest School days so precious.
Before long, we were busy getting everything ready for the day, and the fire was soon lit. There is always something special about gathering around the fire, watching the flames dance and preparing food together. Today, we cooked delicious pizzas followed by our rather fabulous puff pastry pear parcels. Everyone enjoyed sharing our tasty creations with our special older friends around the fire. Good food, warm flames and lovely company made for a truly heartwarming lunchtime.
After lunch, it was time to explore! The mud kitchen was soon bustling with activity as the children got busy mixing, creating and experimenting with all sorts of muddy concoctions. Our enormous new pile of bark provided even more opportunities for exploration, imaginative play and discovery. There was plenty to investigate as the children got hands-on with the new materials and began discovering all the different ways they could use them in their play.
We also returned to our much-loved tyres, which we have been exploring over recent sessions. It was wonderful to see the children continuing to investigate them, finding new ways to play, experiment and challenge themselves. Whether building, balancing, moving or creating their own imaginative worlds, the children were busy learning through play and following their own interests.
Days like these remind us what makes Forest School so special. From the excitement of a new delivery and the freedom to explore our environment, to sharing food around the fire and reconnecting with dear friends, there are so many opportunities for learning, connection and belonging.
We finished the day with happy hearts, muddy hands and lots of lovely memories made together. We can't wait to see what adventures our growing Forest School space brings next!
